Glimpse Behind The Curtain: No Excuses!

Can I take a minute to brag on my son? I’m going to anyway! Matthias had a cholesteatoma in his ear (kinda like a tumor) that ate through his hearing bones and required a couple pretty major surgeries when he was little. This also caused him to be deaf in one ear and bring on plenty of other hardships. This also meant he wasn’t able to play sports for a couple crucial years as a little kid. He LOVES baseball, lives and breathes it. Because he was behind he was cut from several little league teams along the way. We got it, he wasn’t very good. He knew it too. Lots of tears from my boy along the way which is heartbreaking on parents. But let me tell you, this kid has worked, and I mean worked to catch up and be the best version of himself he can be. He loves the Lord, loves people, is a straight A student, rain man good at math, and just an overall amazing kid. He even helped me coach Josiah’s 8U team this summer and he was better at than me. The boys loved him! Watching him work so hard to prove himself has been an inspiration to me. I don’t make him go in the yard and hit balls or work on throwing, he does it all himself. He is constantly asking me to take him to the cages, even after playing a double header in 100degree heat. So no matter what happens over the next four years of high school his story is a success story! And being deaf in one ear hasn’t slowed him down! Keep grinding son!
